The Skriker is a play written by Caryl Churchill. It tells of an ancient monster by the same name, a shapeshifter who feeds off the energy of two destitute teenage girls in modern day Britain. This performance was produced, directed, designed, and performed by Welcome Homesick (Aziza Afzal, Emma Bergman, Sophie Cameron, Meg Lebow, and Clare Lefebure) and assistant directed by David Minton. It was largely rehearsed over video chat from 4 different states in 3 different time zones.
Welcome Homesick is an independent theater company with five coequal directors. We are interested in plays about women and queer folks, hauntings, ritual, demons, and history. As Maryland natives creating work in our home state, we seek to engage local communities and provide access to real world supports around the topics of our theatrical fictions.
