The goal of Life Histories of Hamtramck is to record and preserve the personal stories of Hamtramck residents that make up the greater narrative of the city. Throughout the summer of 2016, Sarah Wilson and I recorded life history interviews with 18 Hamtramckans over the age of 50, including immigrants from Bangladesh, Bosnia, Yemen, Macedonia, and Poland as well as lifelong residents whose families have lived in the area for generations. Below are clips from project participants Darla Swint and Ike Blessit. The second clip was featured in the 2018 American Historical Association National Conference Oral History Workshop.
